itemprop=\"text\"><p><strong>Mem\u00adbers of the Aus\u00adtri\u00adan Pub\u00adlic Affairs Asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion (OePAV) com\u00admit them\u00adselves to com\u00adply with the prin\u00adci\u00adples of the OePAV code of conduct.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Preamble<\/h2>\n<p>Rep\u00adre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtion of inter\u00adests and exchange of infor\u00adma\u00adtion are key ele\u00adments of a healthy and pros\u00adper\u00adous democ\u00adra\u00adcy. They need to be sup\u00adport\u00aded in the inter\u00adest of all par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpants of the polit\u00adi\u00adcal are\u00adna. Inter\u00adest groups and pub\u00adlic affairs experts of com\u00adpa\u00adnies, asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtions, NGOs, trade asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtions and agen\u00adcies are valu\u00adable medi\u00ada\u00adtors between the econ\u00ado\u00admy, pol\u00adi\u00adtics, the admin\u00adis\u00adtra\u00adtion and civ\u00adil soci\u00adety. A high sense of per\u00adson\u00adal integri\u00adty, social sen\u00adsi\u00adtiv\u00adi\u00adty and trans\u00adparen\u00adcy is nec\u00ades\u00adsary to con\u00adduct pub\u00adlic affairs.<\/p>\n<p>There\u00adfore, in recent years, nation\u00adal pub\u00adlic affairs asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtions as the Swiss Pub\u00adlic Affairs Asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion (SPAG), the Ger\u00adman Asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion for Polit\u00adi\u00adcal Con\u00adsult\u00ading (deIgeIpol), the Brus\u00adsels-based Soci\u00adety of Euro\u00adpean Affairs Pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adals (SEAP) and the Euro\u00adpean Asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion of Pub\u00adlic Affairs Agen\u00adcies (EPACA) have enact\u00aded codes of con\u00adduct bind\u00ading their mem\u00adbers. In addi\u00adtion, the Euro\u00adpean Com\u00admis\u00adsion and the Euro\u00adpean Par\u00adlia\u00adment have agreed upon a code of con\u00adduct for the Euro\u00adpean Trans\u00adparen\u00adcy Register.<\/p>\n<p>In a con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00adous process of pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal\u00adiza\u00adtion, the Aus\u00adtri\u00adan Pub\u00adlic Affairs Asso\u00adci\u00ada\u00adtion (OePAV) devel\u00adoped a code of con\u00adduct bind\u00ading its mem\u00adbers. The OePAV code is based on inter\u00adna\u00adtion\u00adal role-mod\u00adels. In enact\u00ading a code of con\u00adduct, the OePAV shows its com\u00admit\u00adment to trans\u00adparen\u00adcy and qual\u00adi\u00adty stan\u00addards to pol\u00adi\u00adtics, civ\u00adil soci\u00adety, clients and the public.<\/p>\n<h2>Self-Perception<\/h2>\n<p>OePAV mem\u00adbers regard their work as con\u00advey\u00ading infor\u00adma\u00adtion and rep\u00adre\u00adsent\u00ading inter\u00adests. They are con\u00advinced that they make sig\u00adnif\u00adi\u00adcant and legit\u00adi\u00admate con\u00adtri\u00adbu\u00adtions to basic demo\u00adc\u00adra\u00adt\u00adic process\u00ades like defin\u00ading opin\u00adion and mak\u00ading deci\u00adsion. In their work, OePAV mem\u00adbers sup\u00adport and com\u00adply with all applic\u00ada\u00adble laws par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar\u00adly the free\u00addom of speech, the right to infor\u00adma\u00adtion, the inde\u00adpen\u00adden\u00adcy of the media and the pro\u00adtec\u00adtion of per\u00adson\u00adal rights.<\/p>\n<p>Integri\u00adty, trans\u00adparen\u00adcy and com\u00adpli\u00adance with the basic demo\u00adc\u00adra\u00adt\u00adic order are require\u00adments for the work of OePAV mem\u00adbers and are inte\u00adgral parts of their self-conception.<\/p>\n<h2>Principles<\/h2>\n<p>Mem\u00adbers of OEPAV com\u00admit them\u00adselves to com\u00adply with the fol\u00adlow\u00ading prin\u00adci\u00adples in their busi\u00adness&nbsp;life:<\/p>\n<h3>Article 1: Honesty and transparency<\/h3>\n<p>OePAV mem\u00adbers must be hon\u00adest and accu\u00adrate in their inter\u00adre\u00adla\u00adtions with clients, polit\u00adi\u00adcal insti\u00adtu\u00adtions, the leg\u00adisla\u00adtive and exec\u00adu\u00adtive bod\u00adies, the media and the pub\u00adlic. They must not mis\u00adlead by using inac\u00adcu\u00adrate or incom\u00adplete infor\u00adma\u00adtion. Mem\u00adbers of the OePAV must pay atten\u00adtion to trans\u00adparen\u00adcy. They must dis\u00adclose their clients\u2019 iden\u00adti\u00adty when act\u00ading on their behalf.<\/p>\n<h3>Article 2: Confidentiality and conflict of interest<\/h3>\n<p>OePAV mem\u00adbers are com\u00admit\u00adted to dis\u00adcre\u00adtion in their work. Meet\u00adings with politi\u00adcians or mem\u00adbers of the admin\u00adis\u00adtra\u00adtion must be con\u00adfi\u00adden\u00adtial unless oth\u00ader\u00adwise agreed. Con\u00adsul\u00adtants must pro\u00adtect con\u00adfi\u00adden\u00adtial infor\u00adma\u00adtion and pro\u00adtect pri\u00adva\u00adcy rights of their cur\u00adrent and for\u00admer clients. Con\u00adfi\u00adden\u00adtial infor\u00adma\u00adtion con\u00adcern\u00ading cur\u00adrent and for\u00admer clients must not be passed on with\u00adout the clients\u2019 explic\u00adit approval. OePAV mem\u00adbers must not accept an assign\u00adment that may cause con\u00adflicts of interest.<\/p>\n<h3>Article 3: Dishonest methods<\/h3>\n<p>In rep\u00adre\u00adsent\u00ading their clients\u2019 inter\u00adests, OePAV mem\u00adbers must refrain from any dis\u00adhon\u00adest or ille\u00adgal behav\u00adior. They must not give direct or indi\u00adrect finan\u00adcial incen\u00adtives. If a client request\u00aded an ille\u00adgal action from the con\u00adsul\u00adtant, the con\u00adsul\u00adtant would have to decline the request and inform the client about the rea\u00adsons for his decline.<\/p>\n<h3>Article 4: No discrimination<\/h3>\n<p>OeP\u00adVA mem\u00adbers must not dis\u00adcrim\u00adi\u00adnate against gen\u00adder, reli\u00adgious beliefs, eth\u00adni\u00adcal back\u00adgrounds, age, dis\u00adabil\u00adi\u00adties or sex\u00adu\u00adal ori\u00aden\u00adta\u00adtion. OePAV mem\u00adbers must not par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpate in dis\u00adcrim\u00adi\u00adna\u00adto\u00adry actions.<\/p>\n<h3>Article 5: Respect<\/h3>\n<p>OePAV mem\u00adbers must treat their clients, col\u00adleagues and con\u00adtacts respect\u00adful\u00adly. They must con\u00adsid\u00ader their per\u00adson\u00adal and pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adal rep\u00adu\u00adta\u00adtion and strength\u00aden it when\u00adev\u00ader possible.<\/p>\n<h3>Article 6: Incompatibility<\/h3>\n<p>The work of pub\u00adlic affairs pro\u00adfes\u00adsion\u00adals is not com\u00adpat\u00adi\u00adble with a func\u00adtion in admin\u00adis\u00adtra\u00adtive or exec\u00adu\u00adtive bod\u00adies includ\u00ading bod\u00adies of the Euro\u00adpean&nbsp;Union.<\/p>\n<h3>Article 7: Protecting and advancing the profession; competition<\/h3>\n<p>OePAV mem\u00adbers must avoid any behav\u00adior that could dam\u00adage the rep\u00adu\u00adta\u00adtion of the pub\u00adlic affairs busi\u00adness, the OePAV or its members.<\/p>\n<h3>Article 8: Compensation<\/h3>\n<p>OePAV mem\u00adbers must sign writ\u00adten con\u00adtracts with their clients deter\u00admin\u00ading the terms and con\u00addi\u00adtions for their ser\u00advices, includ\u00ading a rea\u00adson\u00adable pay\u00adment. Com\u00admis\u00adsion pay\u00adments must not be offered nor accepted.<\/p>\n<h2>General terms<\/h2>\n<p>OePAV mem\u00adbers accept the code in its cur\u00adrent ver\u00adsion when join\u00ading the OePAV. They active\u00adly con\u00adtribute to its com\u00adpli\u00adance, cir\u00adcu\u00adla\u00adtion and refinement.<\/p>\n<p>The OePAV releas\u00ades a list of mem\u00adbers reg\u00adu\u00adlar\u00adly to com\u00adply with the prin\u00adci\u00adple of transparency.<\/p>\n<p>OePAV mem\u00adbers may use their mem\u00adber\u00adship pub\u00adlicly to assure clients their qual\u00adi\u00adty standards.<\/p>\n<p>The OePAV board of direc\u00adtors must update the code of con\u00adduct once a&nbsp;year.<\/p>\n<h2>Proceedings<\/h2>\n<p>Any vio\u00adla\u00adtion of Arti\u00adcles 1 to 8 may lay the ground for a pro\u00adceed\u00ading. A pro\u00adceed\u00ading may result in sanc\u00adtions rang\u00ading from a for\u00admal writ\u00adten warn\u00ading to a com\u00adplete exclu\u00adsion from the OePAV. Exclu\u00adsions are exe\u00adcut\u00aded by the board of direc\u00adtors. The indi\u00advid\u00adual sanc\u00adtion is deter\u00admined by the degree of unlaw\u00adful\u00adness of the action and the extent of rep\u00adu\u00adta\u00adtion dam\u00adage for the pub\u00adlic affairs business.<\/p>\n<p>Vio\u00adla\u00adtions of the code may be noti\u00adfied to the code of con\u00adduct com\u00admit\u00adtee by OePAV mem\u00adbers, polit\u00adi\u00adcal deci\u00adsion mak\u00aders, media rep\u00adre\u00adsen\u00adta\u00adtives or indi\u00advid\u00adu\u00adals. Noti\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtions can\u00adnot be done anony\u00admous\u00adly. Noti\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtions must include their jus\u00adti\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtion with inclu\u00adsion of facts and spec\u00adi\u00adfy the vio\u00adlat\u00aded article.<\/p>\n<p>If a pro\u00adceed\u00ading is ini\u00adti\u00adat\u00aded, the code of con\u00adduct com\u00admit\u00adtee judges the case and gives rec\u00adom\u00admen\u00adda\u00adtions to the board of direc\u00adtors. The affect\u00aded OePAV mem\u00adber is enti\u00adtled to be heard. Mem\u00adbers of the com\u00admit\u00adtee are two unbi\u00adased mem\u00adbers of the board of direc\u00adtors and one exter\u00adnal legal expert. The com\u00admit\u00adtee has to deliv\u00ader its rec\u00adom\u00admen\u00adda\u00adtions with\u00adin a peri\u00adod of 8 weeks after noti\u00adfi\u00adca\u00adtion. Rec\u00adom\u00admen\u00adda\u00adtions have to be made in writ\u00adten form. The board of direc\u00adtors decides by major\u00adi\u00adty. Its deci\u00adsions have to be pub\u00adlished in writ\u00adten&nbsp;form.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section><br>\n<div class=\"avia-button-wrap av-kih8ywyz-cfd2bfad05b66263106bec29e4f58da9-wrap
